Nampa is Idaho’s second largest city, behind its capitol Boise, and is an approximately 30-minute drive West of Boise. The city is currently undergoing a revitalization period, as the region continues to grow with business, retail and new residents. It is home to the popular recreation area Lake Lowell as well as the Deerflat National Wildlife Refuge. Several vineyards and wineries also call Nampa home.
Lake Lowell Park is a 20-acre haven for outdoor recreation for visitors and locals alike. This popular destination features picnic tables, BBQ grills, restrooms, disc golf course, and story trail. Boating, swimming and fishing are among the many activities that folks enjoy at this beautiful oasis in Southwest Idaho. Bird watching, hiking and hunting are other recreation options due to the presence of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife’s Deer Flat National Refuge. Lakeview Park is Nampa’s oldest and most scenic park. The picturesque Lakeview Park is more than 44 acres in size and is located along the entrance into Nampa from the Garrity exit. It features an amphitheater, baseball / softball fields, BMX track, duck pond, historic displays featuring a military jet and a M-60 tank, horseshoe pits, basketball courts, playground equipment, rose garden, sand volleyball court, swimming pool and two reservable covered picnic shelters. Nampa's Amity Dog Park provides a safe place for people and their dogs to exercise and socialize. The six-acre park opened in 2009 and offers off-leash play areas for dogs of all sizes. Separate areas are available for large and small or older dogs. Nampa Recreation Center Park offers public space on the grounds where the Recreation Center sits. Users can enjoy the open space, tennis courts, picnic shelters and fitness trail featured on the grounds. This park offers an asphalt fitness trail that loops for a continuous walk or bicycle ride. The trail circles the recreation center and is just over a half (.56 of a mile) mile long.
