Borah Senior High School is one of the Boise School District's comprehensive high schools, on West Cassia Street in southwest Boise, on the Bench near Cole Road. This page gathers homes whose listings report Borah as the high school, so it's a starting point if you want to live in Borah's attendance area. Most of what you'll find is established single-family housing from the middle decades of Boise's growth, with condos, townhomes and some small multifamily property mixed in.
Borah opened in 1958 as the district's second high school, after Boise High. It's named for William E. Borah, Idaho's long-serving U.S. senator, known as the "Lion of Idaho," which is where the school's Lions mascot comes from; the colors are green and gold. The school describes its campus as five permanent buildings joined by covered outdoor breezeways. Programs listed on the school's site include AVID, performing arts, driver education, a College and Career Center and Advanced Opportunities, and Borah's teams compete in Idaho's 6A classification in the Southern Idaho Conference. For current programs and enrollment details, go to Borah's own website.
Borah draws students from the southwest part of the Boise School District. Listings that report Borah are spread across the Boise Bench and Southwest Boise, and many fall in the 83709 and 83705 ZIP codes. ZIP codes and neighborhood names don't line up with school boundaries, though, so a street on one side of a road can be zoned to Borah while the next block over is zoned elsewhere. If you're also weighing other attendance areas, compare Capital High, Boise High and Timberline High, or browse all of Boise.
The high school on a listing is a field the listing agent fills in, and it can be wrong or out of date. The district says its online maps are a general guide, and boundaries do change; the district redrew elementary boundaries when Owyhee Elementary became an early childhood center. Before you count on Borah, enter the address in the district's Attendance Area Locator and, for an official answer, call the district's Boundaries and Transportation Office at (208) 854-4167.
The Borah attendance area is among the more affordable parts of Boise. To see what has closed, browse the sold homes page, and to see homes in the order they came on the market, the newest listings page.
If you want a smaller or lower-maintenance option, look at condos and townhomes; you can also narrow to single-level homes, homes with a basement, homes with RV parking or multifamily property.
Every area has its own mix of homes, neighborhoods and price ranges. Templeton Real Estate can help you understand what to expect in Borah Senior High School and answer questions along the way.
